Sometimes it’s helpful to view our How to Buy a Gantry Crane page before filling out this section. It explains terminology and addresses many of the questions we will be asking you below.

Figure 1 illustrates an example of one of our more popular gantry models. Questions below pertain to the different parts of the crane identified using capital letters A thru H. For example, (A) refers to the lifting capacity of the crane and (B) to the crane’s overall span.

Do you know the gantry model you'd like a quote for?

What is the gantry model number?

Model numbers are listed on each of the Tri-Adjustable, Thrifty, Hippolift, Mighty-Mite, and Made-To-Order gantry pages. They are 5-10 alphanumeric characters long and contain 1 or 2 dashes (-), for example 5-08M-8, 29-10AC, and F1015-M35AC. When specifying a Mighty-Mite crane, please add “AC” to the end of the crane model number if you want casters quoted. NOTE: Clicking on one of the above model page links will open a new tab. You will not lose your place here.

Are there any obstructions or special requirements for your crane?

What construction material do you prefer, aluminum, steel, or a hybrid (steel frame with an aluminum i-beam)?

What lifting capacity (A) do you require?

What overall span (B) do you require?

What clear span (D) do you require?

What is the maximum overall allowable height (C)?

Figure 2 is an illustration of one of our more popular tripod cranes. Questions below pertain to the different parts of the tripod identified using capital letters A thru C. For example, (B) refers to the overall leg length at an angle and (A) to the crane’s height under the eyebolt.

Which type of Liftruk would you like a quote for (fixed or pivot boom)?

Pivot booms can be pinned at 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40-degree angles. Fixed booms are fixed at a 0-degree angle.

Lifting capacity is the maximum weight of the load being lifted. *NOTE: Jibs can be ordered in capacities not shown on our product pages upon special request. Available capacities range from 1/4 to 5 tons.

NOTE: A template is used during installation for the proper placement of the anchor bolts.

NOTE: Rotation stops prevent the jib crane from rotating 360 degrees.

NOTE: A collector allows the jib to rotate 360 degrees without wrapping the power cord of an electric hoist [sold separately] around the mast of the crane.

Do you need a tight wire kit?

NOTE: A tight wire kit is used to support the power cord of an electric hoist up near the beam of the jib crane (so the power cord isn’t hanging down into the work area).

Step 4: Tripod Accessory Requirements

All units are shipped with standard “feet” and a lashing cable to prevent overspreading of the legs. The feet are rounded on the bottom and have a hole through which the lashing cable can be installed.

Optional rubber base pad, mud base plate, and spike base kits are available for every tripod model. Our Accessories page helps you review your options with respect to hoists.
