Tri-Adjustable Gantry Cranes: Versatility at Every Angle

In today’s manufacturing and fabrication environments, flexibility isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. Floor space changes, projects evolve, and lifting requirements rarely stay the same for long. That’s where tri-adjustable gantry cranes stand apart. Designed to adapt to a wide range of workspaces and lifting scenarios, these cranes offer configuration options that traditional fixed gantry cranes simply can’t provide.

At Wallace Cranes, our portable tri-adjustable gantry cranes are engineered with versatility in mind. Rather than locking you into one setup, they allow you to adjust height, span, and caster frame spread to meet the demands of the job. Keep reading to learn more about our tri-adjustable cranes and see how they can increase your productivity and benefit your operation.

Built to Adapt to Your Workspace

One of the biggest advantages of a tri-adjustable crane is its ability to be reconfigured as your needs change. Whether you’re working in a compact shop, navigating floor obstructions, or handling loads that extend beyond a standard footprint, these cranes can be assembled to fit the situation. Read on to learn more about the various configurations that this crane offers!

  • Inboard Braced Configuration
This is the go-to setup for everyday lifting tasks. Standard inboard braced configuration features the brace legs installed towards the inside of the I-beam, with adjustable minimum and maximum heights and a variable caster frame spread. This makes it easy to fine-tune the crane for different load sizes, equipment heights, or work areas, all while maintaining stability and seamless movement.
  • Outboard Braced Configuration
When floor space is limited, your crane can be configured with the brace legs installed towards the ends of the I-beam. This allows the brace legs and the ends of the beam to extend over handrails, machinery, and other obstructions that may limit your workspace.
  • Cantilever Configuration
If you’re working in a space where obstacles prevent your gantry setup from reaching its intended haul, the cantilever configuration permits the I-beam to extend beyond the outer frame of the crane – up to 25% of the beam’s length – making it possible for you to lift and / or move a load without immediately situating it between the two A-frame legs. This broadens your lifting range, allowing you to lower loads from a rooftop, move items from the loading dock to the ground, and navigate several other unique lifting situations.
  • Uneven Elevation Applications
Some workspaces feature diverse elevations, varying by inches or by feet. Tri-adjustable cranes can be configured to accommodate uneven elevations by adjusting a combination of the leg length (used to adjust the height) and caster frame spread (used to adjust the base width of each end frame). This combination of adjustments allows the height of most tri-adjustable models to be modified at fractions of an inch up to a few feet or more.

What makes the tri-adjustable model so exceptional is its ability to handle a wide variety of lifting scenarios with ease. Whether you’re lifting a small bundle of cut tubing today or reworking your shop layout next month, the same crane can be reassembled to meet new requirements. That adaptability translates directly into long-term value, reduced downtime, and smarter use of floor space.
