Gantry Crane Cantilever Chart & Weight Balancing SOPs

Gantry cranes have a bridge-like structure with an i-beam that spans two A-frame legs that are used to support the beam.  Cantilever gantry cranes have an i-beam that can extend beyond the outer frame of the crane, making it possible for you to lift and/or move your load without immediately situating it between the two A-frame legs. This broadens the lifting range of the crane and makes it much easier to load, unload, and move cargo on one or both sides of it.

The pages below provide access to downloadable, printable (PDF) versions of the cantilever charts and weight balancing procedures for all our gantry cranes.

Crane models are broken out by construction material (aluminum, steel, or steel-aluminum hybrid), crane type (Tri-Adjustable, Thrifty, Hippolift, and Mighty-Mite), crane capacity (1/4 – 10 ton), and model number. You will see the overall span of each crane, the maximum cantilever distance (A), the maximum levered load capacity (B), and the required counterweights (C) at the opposite end of the i-beam.
